What is FSSAI?
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex body responsible for regulating and supervising food safety in India. It ensures that food products undergo quality checks to reduce the chances of food adulteration and the sale of sub-standard products. FSSAI operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Every food business operator (FBO) in India is required to obtain an FSSAI license or registration depending on the size and nature of their operations.
